I recently purchased and installed a new motherboard (msi 970 gaming), and now having installed all of the new drivers including the Realtek HD audio driver to replace my prior audio driver, my microphone on my headset all of a sudden (I used it just before installing the motherboard) only registers static white noise and either little to no voice when the mic is a normal distance from my face or incredibly loud when it is very close.
My headset is a Razer kraken w/ 7.1 surround, and I've had them for about a year and a half now with no problems, and I don't suspect that the microphone died in the 20 minutes between installing motherboards and drivers. I've tried fiddling with the settings in the Realtek audio manager and in the microphone properties to no avail. The microphone only broadcasts static and very low quality, inconsistent voice. I've also tried adjusting the mic in jack on the front of my case which hasn't yielded any improvements either.
Thanks!
