I am trying to hook up a new Samsung UBD-KM85C DVD player to my old Pioneer Elite VSX-39TX A/V receiver. I am replacing my old Pioneer Elite DV-37 DVD player with the Samsung.
The Pioneer DVD player accepted three cables red, blue, green from the Pioneer receiver into its "Component Video Out" receptacles. It also accepted a coax cable from the Pioneer receiver into its "Digital Out Coax" receptacle.
I bought a Helios Mini CS-HDMAV converter box. I connect the RGB cable from the Pioneer receiver to one end of the CS-HDMAV converter and I connect the HDMI from the new Samsung DVD player to the other end of the CS-HDMAV converter.
I have a left-over coax cable coming out of the Pioneer receiver that does not fit into either the CS-HDMAV converter or the new Samsung DVD player.
I am just seeing fuzzy black and white content when I play a DVD. I don't think I am getting surround sound either -- I a system that supports surround 7.1.
I have a Pioneer Elite Pro-700HD rear projection TV.
What do I still need to do OR can this new Samsung DVD player even be connected to my VSX-39TX receiver?
