Did Nikon raise the price by about $250 over the old
D70? If so, was this so they wouldn't have to make
the price of the new D50 too low?
Reason I ask is the Rebel XT is available in Canada
for around $1299 Can. ($1050 U.S.) but the Nikon is
$1599 Can. or $1300.00 U.S. I thought the old D70 and
new Rebel were priced the same?

Is that price for the body only, or the body and the 18-70mm DX lens too?

Be careful what you wish for.

Ok. So I guess the D50 is the competetion to the Rebel XT and the
D70 is considered somewhat higher on the food chain.

These prices are from Simon's Cameras (Montreal) web site:
Rebel XT body only - $1149.95
D70s body only - $1129.95

Looking at the kit price is misleading, since the Nikon's kit lens is *much*
better.

No change in price then.
