Recently I connected a 5.1 audio system on my Gigabyte 990FXA UD-5 motherboard which has Realtek ALC 889 audio chip. Now the subwoofer and the other speakers responds properly while being tested from the Realtek HD Audio Manager but there is no Bass while playing media or games. I am using Windows 10 x64 and installed the latest drivers.. Any input regarding this problem is appreciated. Thanks

Bass/low freq might be set too low. Does the sub have a bass adjustment knob?

Software side of things you can try Reatek Audio Manager under sound effects, try loudness Eq. Also under icon with a guitar, theres an graphics eq button. The two left sliders are your lower frequencies, try putting more gain on those.

Uncheck the full range options for both front L/R and surround.

Right now it thinks you are running full range speakers, that means unless you have LFE content (which is very unlikely outside of movie/TV 5.1 or greater) the sub won't be playing. Unchecking those options tell it that the sub is supposed to handle all the lower frequencies.

Once you do that, you will probably have the option to adjust the crossover between the sub and speakers. Set it to what ever the speakers are good for (or as close as possible). If it's just a slider bar without giving you an actual number, you can play it by ear or use a test tone generator and use that to help out.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

Try updating your high definition codec, once you get to the download page after ticking acceptance choose the 64bit version in navy blue.

For some reason your HD manager is lacking tabs like sound effects etc under speakers which should look like this;

My Realtek manager is black like this below, im still confused which is latest interface albeit you're missing tabs and not sure why.

If you can get the sound effect's tab, there you'll have loudness eq + equalizer.

Actually you have that already in Windows, if you can get into playback devices and under speakers click properties > enhancements > Check Equalizer and Loudness EQ in the list. Then click Equalizer and next to setting <user define> Either try preset like rock of sorts or manually adjust it if you click ... The two freq bands to the left same as Realtek's is your low base.

Done exactly as u said and updated the driver to 2.79 64 bit version but the audio manager interface happens to be same and there is no enhancement tab under speaker properties also.

Disabled the automatic update and uninstalled realtek hd audio manager as u said.. And now I got the bass management option back in speaker properties and checking the bass management there solves the problem and the sub woofer starts to work while playing media.. So is this the solution?? Should I have to manage without realtek audio manager??

Can use bass management there as well. I think now that the Realtek drivers have properly been updated, you'll find the same settings in Realtek manager. I think both Windows/Realtek go hand in hand sharing the ability to change settings via either means.

You should have loudness eq in both places now and eq equalizer if you want to improve sound.

Realtek wasn't the cause of missing tabs it was Win10 mucking up Realtek with driver updates. It's safe to install it now and should because Realtek is the upto date software for your onboard sound and may need it for games.

Hmmm....

Sorry for the late reply, time zone thing, but it looks like boju is helping you out. At this point I would agree with him that this seems to be an odd driver issue and I'm not going to be much help there, my solution is usually to do a fresh install and not deal with it :D

The link you gave now have display driver uninstaller instead of driver sweeper and It doesn't have any option to uninstall the audio driver.
