I use my iphone6s for powerpoint presentations on an acer k11 which has an hdmi port. I have an apple lightning digital av adapter that goes into my phone and then I use hdmi cable from that to projector. It works perfect. I just purchased a Hitachi CP-X275 projector as a spare. It does not have HDMI. I purchased a HDMI to VGA adapter and connect to the RGB port on back of projector and then to this adapter. I am getting no signal at RGB input on projector. Do I need a VGA to HDMI adapter instead? I read on another thread these cables are not interchangeable.

Thank you in advance !!!

You'll need an active hdmi to vga converter. A simple gender changing passive adapter will not work as hdmi is a digital signal and vga is analog.

OK, when searching for the adapter I did not see any reference such as "passive" or "active" simply HDMI to VGA etc. Is there a specific term I should look for and is there an adaptper made that is going to allow me to go from HDMI to VGA. Ironically when I was connected I did see my screen shot on the wall for a brief minute and that got me thinking cable issue (VGA) which I did change to no avail.

Thanks !

It can get confusing. Not sure what you have now but this is an example what you need as it has the built IC to converter the digital HDMI signal into an Anlog VGA signal it also requires a usb port for power as most active converters do.

If you were able to see anything you probably had the proper converter but the IC may have failed.

Interesting, that is the exact converter I purchased. I did not realize that the USB cable was a charging cable, I thought it was an extra cable duh! I will try powering the converter when I get home tonight and see if that does the trick. Whereas I am using my iphone and not a laptop I do not have a USB connection but the connection that goes into the converter looks the same as a universal cell phone charger so I will try that into a wall outlet. And lastly you said the IC may have failed what does IC stand for? Sorry for the ignorance !

Yeah not having the power source plugged in could definitely explain why its not working, plugging it into a charger should be fine.
