Hi,

As of yesterday my brand new dell inspiron 14 7000 series laptop has been experiencing major fps drops.

I have a geforce tx 850M
intel i7-4720HQ cpu @ 2.6ghz
8 gb ram
windows 10

I was playing fine last week with Smite running at 120+ fps without vertical sync and a steady 60 fps with vertical sync.

Then yesterday it's like it just died.
Now all i'm getting is a max of 20 and it usually sits t 9 fps.

I have tried updating driver - both nvidia and on board
I have changed the settings in nvidia control panel to make sure it's using my nvidia card. adaptive and performance, vsync on and off, triple buffering on and off etc.
I have done a full factory restore of my computer - wiped everything and started again.

I have been through 3 google pages of possible solutions but nothing is working.

Any other ideas?

Figured it out:

The laptop was glitched into thinking it should run off battery power when it was plugged in. The battery mode decreases the power to the GPU so it doesn't run as it should.

I shut down my laptop and removed the battery. Without putting the battery back in I booted the laptop using just the AC power then made sure that it worked by running Smite and the fps was at 60.
I then shut down again and put the battery back in.

That seems to have fixed it.
