Old Bose V35 HTS need surround sound pass through from 4K TV

I have a Sony 2016 55XBR850D 4K TV that I want to pass through 5.1 surround sound to a older Bose V35 LIFESTYLE HOME THEATRE SYSTEM it does not support 4K. I have a PS4 Pro and a Nvidia Shield Android TV streaming/gaming system that supports 4k also, all connected to the Sony tv via Hdmi. How do I pass through audio only to the Bose?

TV has a hybrid headphone line level analog audio output. Set it to line level output in the TV menu. Connect that to the Bose and follow the instructions.

Still a little confused, doesn't this only pass through stereo? Could I use the Toslink option?
