Solved! Old surround sound not working on Smart TV

Hi guys, we have an old Samsung Surround Sound System ( HTS ) and we cannot get it to work with our Panasonic Smart TV, we've connected with mini scart leads etc can anybody help ?

That wont work. You have the cable plugged into 2 inputs. The only way I see your setup working is if the soundbar has an optical input. You'd need to connect an optical cable from the output on the back of TV to input on soundbar.

Unfortunately the Surround Sound doesn't have optical input. If i got an optical cable for the TV is there such a thing as a converter etc that would allow me use the optical cable in some other input area in the Surround Sound ?

What inputs are on your sound bar? Does the TV have ARC on HDMI?

Thank you drivinfast247 Seems to be only HDMI on the SS & on Smart TV it seems to be HDMI, VGA, AV, Optic Out and USB3. The Links to my photos are on my original post cheers

The only output on the TV is optical digital audio.
The only input on the HTS is analog stereo.
You need an optical to analog converter
https/www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-Digital-Converter-5-1-Compatible/dp/B00CWELGMS/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
and the cables to connect it to the TV and HTS. Check the TV manual on how to turn on and use the optical output. Sometimes you have to turn the TV speakers off. With some converters you also have to set the TV to PCM stereo.
