Old wireless earphones - new TV. A common problem?

My new smart Samsung TV has, among other things, an optical TOSLINK for audio which is now occupied by the soundbar, and an ARC hdmi channel which can also export sound.

Is there a cheap ARC digital to analogue sound extractor gadget to connect the earphones?

Will this work? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Extractor-Neoteck-Optical-Converter-Splitter-DAC/dp/B073FCM6LF/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506408537&sr=8-1&keywords=arc+to+analogue

Or do people split the TOSLINK and extract analogue sound from there?

Just to say in the end, not having found a good solution, I took the easy way out and bought a new set of Bluetooth earphones. A waste of the old wireless ones, but there you go....

Hi, you seem to have a good grasp on this! You can use the Digital to Analogue adaptor, but you need a throughput for the soundbar - you dont want to have to keep plugging, and un-plugging the optical lead. This is a unit that will throughput the optical signal, and also plug in a pair of headphones - simultaneously.

I hope this helps.
