Hi my daughter bought me a TOSHIBA SATELLITE C50-B-14D . The problem is it doesn't seem to have an optical disk drive, there is a black thing in the slot where it would be but it doesn't open.
Can I get a ODD put in? Is it easy to do and will it cost me a lot of money to get done? Can I do it myself?
Thanks

If it doesnt have a slot somewhere on the side no. Most dont come with dvd these days. Most people use USB..

You would have to buy an external dvd / burner if it doesnt have a slot you can put it in

Asus DRW-24F1ST is a nice looking DVD player, CD burner diskdrive, which can be placed into your desktop PC fairly easy :)

My bad! There are diffent types of diskdrives on the market which you can hook up to your Toshiba laptop. They are called external diskdrives.

It has a fake ODD that looks like it can be removed via 1 screw and I wondered if I took the fake ODD out would it be easy to install a real one? I'm an old codger and like to load my cds / dvds onto my laptop.. and I also want to install some programs that are on cd... I don't really want to be carrying an external ODD around with me to be honest
