Output sound of the mixer from computer audio is messed up

I am having trouble with my audio when connecting my computer to a mixer. I couldn't think of a better way to put it in the title. Whenever I have my computer connected to the mixer and I play a song it sounds like it is almost separating out the vocals from the actual music. When I play other sounds other than music it sounds like it is very distant and only in one ear at a time even if I change the balance on the mixer.

Not sure what sound card/onboard, operating system and mixer you have but check you're passing the right channels. In audio properties set your stereo to surround or stereo depending on your mixer. If the mixer only does stereo, having the operating system on 5.1 i could see the voice thing happening.

I don't know what soundcard I have but as for operating system I am running Windows 8.1 and my mixer is a Behringer XENYX 502.
I tried what you said about the audio properties with both of my computers and changing the speakers to stereo, 5.1, or any other options I had unfortunately did absolutely nothing.

Do you have a sound card or are you using the audio jacks from the motherboard? Any idea what the motherboard is? if you know, then you'll be able to find out the sound chip it uses. Most commonly used is Realtek and you can update drivers here http/www.realtek.com.tw/ But thats if it is Realtek.

Check also loudness eq, will be in audo properties under sound effects. Try it on/off.

Have you checked the mixer with another audio player of some sort to make sure it was only the computer? I'm not experienced with mixers but seeing it's quite technical with all those controls, it could be the mixer it self needing adjustment?

I'll keep looking around and let you know if i read anything similar to your problem.

I am using the audio from my mobo. My mobo is an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX and the audio device on it is a Realtek® ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC.

Where exactly are you finding the loudness eq? Is it the actual properties of the speakers or something else. If it is the speakers' properties then I do not have a sound effects tab. http/puu.sh/bU3UZ/18d5cc3980.png

I have tried the mixer with multiple computers and my phone and the same problems happen so I am thinking that either my mixer or some of my adapters are not working properly because there isn't much to actually adjust on the XENYX 502. I think I will just have to return it and get another one.

Yea possibly might need to replace. What input connection are you using, mono or the av red/white? If you haven't tried it, try the red/white audio adapter to 6.3mm headphone jack to use in the mono input, see if theres any difference.

Not sure how old your driver is but if you have Realtek HD Audio Manager it will be under audio in control panel.

This interface is about a year old so it may be different now, but Realtek have changed a lot and seem the one you're using is ancient looking. Not that it will make much difference in your case since nothing else is working but worth a shot anyway. Maybe the added adjustments in the software can do something better then the other devices you've tried.

Sorry the pic you provided is the win8 audio properties, thought that was Realtek's. Loudness eq option should be under enhancements.

Ok so I found this, http/puu.sh/bU6Ea/2284a2dc84.png in Behringer's help section and that sounds like the problem I am having and I actually have a stereo breakout cable that I ordered but it won't be here until tomorrow. I thought that having just a 3.5mm female to dual 1/4" male adapter like this http/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010D0HO0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 would be what I needed and then use a 3.5mm aux cable with that but if it turns out that that is the problem then I guess I was wrong and now I feel like an idiot haha. But, I won't know until tomorrow.

Jesus thats a lot of stuff to try understand.

To think of it that should have worked. Did you hard pan the control to one side? left or right it shouldn't matter. Mono is single channel and when using the two inputs, the pan would have to be set to one side to fuse at a better scale.
