Overclock laptop fan?

Hi
Is it possible to overclock my laptop fan temporarily? When I installed a BIOS update, the fan ran on really high rpm but i can't seem to do it myself.

The use of a program such as speedfan http/www.almico.com/speedfan.php may help there but I have to inquire as to why you would do that (or want to)

I'm using speedfan but as far as I know, it only lets to set to 100% not above it.
I'd need to set the fan speed above max for 1-5 min while I do some heavy tasks, otherwise my laptop sometimes shuts down.

As I suspected... it would seem that the time has come for disassembly and a thorough cleaning. You may be able to help control your temps with a cooling pad but that will only go so far.
You should be able to find a disassembly guide for your model laptop on YouTube or eHow or iFixit - take a look at a few different guides (see below for YouTube links). It may not be too difficult (model and individual dependent). I'll suggest replacing the thermal compound and any thermal pads while in there. You don't need to though if the heat sink is not removed from the motherboard.
