Overheating causes entire network internet bump

My husband and I have noticed that when his laptop overheats, it knocks the Internet out for our entire wireless network in-home. Sometimes his laptop will overheat and shut down. At the same time, it suddenly knocks my computer's Internet offline. We're not really sure how this is connected? But it has happened repeatedly and we're really unsure as to why his laptop effects the wireless network (because I do not tether off of his machine). The Internet comes back on on its own and isn't dependent upon the laptop itself rebooting. Please help?

The laptop should have no effect on other computers connected to the wireless network. Sounds like you may have more than one problem.

As for the laptop, have you cleaned (or had someone else do so) the dust out recently? Do the fan(s) work correctly?

Logon to your wireless router and ensure logging is enabled and set to max. After the next 'event' check the log to see if any activity has been recorded.

It should not, but it does. Laptop overheats and Internet bumps as a result 5/5 times. Otherwise, we don't have connectivity/network issues.

Thanks for the suggestion. We will definitely try this. I'm wondering if it has something to do with Windows. This is a recent happening since about 2 months ago. Prior to this time, when his laptop overheated (occasionally), it did not effect the network/ did not bump the Internet connectivity on my computer.

I had something a little similar in the past- very randomly, switching on a PC would cause a Netgear router to stop responding. I had to hard reset the router before there was any network. Some kind of problem with the PC doing its initial 'broadcast' to look for DHCP servers. Anyhoo, had to replace the router to fix the issue. Hope that you have more luck with diagnosing your problem.
