Pdp-ro5g operating headphones

I am trying to use headphones on this Pioneer home theartre but when I plug them into the audo plug socket, nothing. The tv remains supplying sound. Is there something I have to operate on the remote.

my pioneer vsx-30 switches automatically.

do you have the input going from source-receiver-tv or source-tv-receiver? the first is what i use and is the better choice.
