I have a mixer that has line and the old phono inputs. The line input is fine for my laptop. But, I need some kind of converter to get my cd player into the phono input. Do they make any kind of unit for this? I need to get the level of the the cd player down enough for the phono input's phono preamp secttion to handle. Sort of un preamping, if you will.

I'm going to guess your cd player uses the standard 3.5 mm jack and if that is the case then this should be pretty self explanatory, you would plug one end of the cable into the cd player and the other into the adapter. You would plug the adapter into the mixer.

There are lots of 1/8" to 1/4" adapters, but..
If the mixer's phono input has an RIAA equalizer built in, you aren't going to like what a CD input sounds like even if you do get an adapter to fit.

Thanks for your response. Are you saying that the RIAA equalizer is like a preamp and will cause distortion if I plug the cd player straight in, possibly blowing some circuitry?
