My pioneer cld 980 plays only 2 out of my 4 laserdiscs.
First i tried Total Recall, plays fine.
Then I tried to play The Crow, and it would'nt play.

I then bought 2 more laserdiscs from ebay and only 1 of them will play.
I guess its just like with DVDs that only play on certain players.
Any info on this is appreciated.

No, LDs and LD players are NOT just like DVDs and DVD players!

Your laser appears to me to be out of alignment, and your player needs
to be serviced by either Duncan (WA) or Kurtis (VA). If your player is
a cheaper model, it might not be economically feasible to fix it over
just buying another one and hoping/praying that it is problem-free.

Well it does play some laserdiscs all the way through with no problems,
just others won't play at all, it's like the player won't read them, it
just loads, and no response. But, the discs that will play load and it
reads them fine, it says LASERDISC on the tv screen when the laserdisc
is loaded. Thats why I thought it was a compatibility issue or
somthing.

So howcome some play fine all the way through, and others won't load
properly?

The 980 is NTSC only, so should those discs happen to be in PAL... go
check the covers.

They are NTSC, but guess what, today I found a sony mdp 600 for $10 and it
plays them great.
So the laserdisc search is on!

Keep diggin' em up! If you find a HLD-X9 below $100 - just let me know,
I'll happily pay for shipping!
