Playback of pictures on CD

My uncle sent me a CD with a bunch of pictures he took with his digital
camera. When I use the CDP on my computer they come up as a slide show.
However, when I tried them on my DVDP in my main system (wanted to see the
pictures on my DTV) it said data error. I assume there is a format issue
here, but don't know that much about these things. I'm curious because I'm
in the market for a digital camera, but I'd like to be able to burn to
CD/DVD (I have both on my computer) and watch the pictures on my big screen.
My DTV also has a USB connection on the front panel that enables me to go
from the camera to the TV, but this wont help with CD's.

Can someone educate me on what I need to do?

Thanks

I just bought a Toshiba DVD/VCR player for $399. (I needed a new one
anyway.) I, too, wanted to show my digital photos on a big TV screen. The
instructions are not very clear but I made several CD coasters and blistered
some paint before I finally managed to burn a CD that would work. I used
Roxio to do it and it worked fine. But - the Toshiba player shows them in
one of three fixed speeds. That allows no time for any discussion on a
particular slide. Toshiba confirmed that fact. Why they would make it that
way I don't know. I bought a Sandisk product for around $30 that works
slick but I can't get them to play in the order that I want. I guess that
my message is to read carefully and ask questions. I posed much the same
questions and I think if you Google my name alond with "TV" you may find
some answers.

Different DVD players have different capabilities for showing photos on a CD
or DVD. There is much info at http://www.videohelp.com/.
