Power Adapter Plug is getting hot

Hey Community,

I have an old Samsung R40plus Notebook. 2 weeks ago, the original power adapter has broke and I bought a Multi-Function Power Adapter (Trust). It worked very well but then, the plug of the power adapter began getting hot and the notebook is switching between AC-Mode and Battery-Mode, which is really annoying -_- ... So I looked on the adapter and it showed that it feeds the Notebook with 19V (I can choose myself how much Volt I want) and 3.4A but then I looked on the Notebook and it shows that it need 19V and 3.15A (and a (MAX) next to it)

My question: Do I need a new adapter and do it hurt the notebook if I continue using it? And how do I get the Notebook in AC-Mode?

Hi, what you should check is the plug from your power adapter, check the hole in the plug not too big for the pin inside the jack for your laptop.
From what you said, the plug is getting hot and the laptop is switching between the battery and the adapter, you have a bad connection at the adapter plug.

It fits, how it has to be...
That switching between battery and adapter happend on the original power adapter too (it happens sometimes... How can I check, if the plug inside the notebook is okey?

To verify the DC jack you have to open the laptop and check the connection of the jack with a voltmeter.
If you can't do it by yourself, a repair shop can do it but it will cost you something. It's up to you to consider if it's worth the cost of the repair.
