Is any way to cope to/from PPC from/to PC without installing any soft on PC
with win2000/XP?
My PPC - Asus 716, it can use SD,CF, BT, WiFi.

Can it be done just with usual USB cable?
Or maybe there is some CF or SD card which can help with it?

It would be great if admin rights on PC will be not needed for that.

By the way, will USB WiFi dongle work just with software included in 2000/XP
or native driver is needed?

pretty sure you have to use activesnyc or a third party syncing software to
transfer files....

Only by mounting the card on the PC with a card reader.
The only thing I miss about my old Clie, the MS Import/Export function which
mounted the Memory Card as a removable drive in Windows Explorer.

I believe that you can beam back and forth between a PPC and IR equipped
PC. The caveate though is that if you are ABLE, to you may not WANT to
for two reasons...

1) By beaming the files (if possible), the files will be as-is. In other
words they'll take up as much space on the PPC as they do on the PC.
ActiveSync automatically converts files to formats which do not take up
as much space.

2)You may not have enough space on you PPC to carry the file that you
want to.

3)If even if you do have enough space, you probably won't be able to
access the file since the file formats for Pocket Excel & Pocket Word
have differences from their full-desktop versions.

I'm not saying that it CAN'T be done, just that it may not be worth the
hassle.

Why noone never thought about that creating win2003 and PPCs for it? Even
PPCs with 2003se cant do such simple thing as mass storage drive.
I want to exchange files with my PPC and computers in university. For some
silly reason, Internet is closed for students there. And noone wants to
install ActiveSync. I just dont want to take usbflash, i sparse and already
lost one somewhere . And i try to create some soft for PPC that is why i
want to get somehow what i done on PC to my PPC to test on real PPC, not
emulator.

Would have helped if I saw this before my prior post, however having
experience with QA/Testing, I would suggest that its in your best
interest to use Active Sync since in the real world environment the
end-users of your software will probably by using AS. Unless your work
is stricktly class-room homework.

I dont want to make software to istall it without AS. I just want to find
way to copy files in different places without asking to install different
software and carrying only my PPC and at least cable or some small usb
hardware.

Let the SD card be your bridge between PPC and PC. Carry only a usb card
reader if the PCs are not so equipped (BTW this is MUCH faster that AS).

Alternatively use a wireless share and move files that way. I like this one
even better, no hassle with the card reader (if there is a wireless
connection to be found, most of the time in the field not...)

I hope i will find some small card reader.

It can sound strange there, but we have no any hotspot at uny. More over
there is no any in city.
It's vicious circle noone wants to buy any wireless because there is no any
hotspot.
Noone wants to make hotspots because about noone will use them.
Ehhh. Bt that is quite another problem, not for that newsgroup.

Card readers are currently in the $10 price range for usb multiple card
format readers.

In additon to the information in the previous posts, you can configure
an autorun on the card to run programs or initiate installs when the
card is inserted into the ppc... just remember to code to erase it when
your process is finished.
