I read on this group that you may have to double dial when you are
roaming on Verizon prepay. I have not had to do this yet but I am
concerned about how you do it. Do you have to dial the number
manually or can you go to your phone book or voice dial and dial from
there without disconnecting your call?

I usually use the phone book and auto dial first and then manually. I
have never been able to get the auto dial to dial the second time.

The process is this: When you dial out on the pre-paid phone you call
is routed to a special number - sorta like when you use a calling
card. Yoou will hear a voice telling you to enter the number - you do
NOT hit send again. You enter the number again and the call is
completed after you get this ominous voice message telling you "You
will be charge an additional fee for this call.... please hold."

Occassionally when you dial the first time the voice will also ask you
for YOUR phone number and "password" number. This means that the phone
did not upload it to the initial tower or it was inputed incorrectly.
I usually hang up and try it again.

A thought: if your phone supports it:
<10 digit phone number> <hard wait> <10 digit phone number>

You use your contact list normally most of the time. If you find yourself
in a place that requires the double-dial, then you "release" the hard wait.

And yes: if your number goes thru the first time, your phone will be
displaying the wait and giving you an option to release the wait. But you
can just ignore it. Food For Thought. dr
