Hi,

As the title reads I have a Compaq Presario V6642EA notebook. it comes with a DVD-RW Drive with Lightscribe. The drive is now faulty and doesnt even detect any CD that I put in it.

Now I'm thinking I could get this drive replaced. I want to sell the laptop and get some cash. I bought it for £480 early last year but barely used it, cos I bought a second Dell XPS 1530M only 3 months after this one. Hoping to sell for around £250 as-is.

I'm wondering what my options are for replacing this drive? will any laptop dvd drive work or are there specific ones? how hard is it to change a laptop dvd drive?

I tried to replace that DVD drive and was still nothing. Something must be wrong with motherboard or BIOS( BTW I`ve got newest f.32) That laptop is a waste of money.
