Problem with sound when I plug in the headphone (laptop)

Hello there. So I have a problem : when im in a game or program and i plug in my headphones the audio "splits". I mean the already opened program's sounds are coming from the speakers but the system sounds (or notification sounds, i dont know how it is called ) and the newly opened progs (opened while the heaphone was in) sounds come from the headphone. I even have seperate tabs in the sound options for the speakers and headphones. (picture : http/postimg.org/image/nhdxynqtd/ )

If i quit the prog i was in and re-enter it works fine with the headphones but it's quite annoying and unconfortable especially when im in a match so i can't quit. Can i "merge" them somehow ?

Oh and I'm using win 8.1

Have you tried going into playback devices and setting your headphones as default device?

Yes, i searched trough the settings there but no matter what i do nothing happens.

What audiochipset/software does your laptop have? Perhaps disabling an option similar to multi-stream might solve it.
