Proxy server lan problem

Hi. I stay at residence at my university and we use a lan cable which supports a proxy server. After my laptop updated , after I open up any browser its asks for my authentication as usual and the internet works for about 5 minutes before it stops completely and says "this site cant be reached", I look back at my lan settings and notice my proxy settings have cleared automatically. Ive tried countless times entering them again but the same problem persists. Ive been at this point for the past few days. Ive even tried taking out my cable and putting it back. Im sure its a problem to do with my laptop. Is it a virus or did the update change a certain setting I didnt realise ?
