Putting OS on HDD

Hey guys so I have a second hard-drive hooked up to my computer at the moment and I have a iso file of linux mint that I want to put on there so that I can boot from that hdd on another computer. So do I just put the iso file on it or the contents of the iso?

You would want the installed version of Mint - not the ISO on the hard drive. I would create a bootable USB stick:

And boot from that, then install Linux Mint on the drive.

1. You burn a DVD or USB stick with that ISO.
2. Put that HDD and the DVD in the other system, and boot from the DVD
3. Install as needed

If this is the first time meddling with Linux I'd recommend reading a few guides on how to install linux alongside windows, because well simply put stuff can happen. Most likely it will also install a bootloader at the start, which some might not want if they prefer the windows bootloader.

alright guys thank you. I knew how to create the boot disk and all that but I was just wondering if I could just skip few steps and just straight up put it on the hdd.

Theoretically it is possible - but the amount of work to get it done may make it more difficult that actually installing it from a USB stick....
