Question question on losing a cane

ok the wife keeps forgetting to grab her cain when she is shopping and hooks it on the cart. is there a device that i can attach to the cain that will ring her phone when she gets say 20' away from it?

i see an app called trackr but i do not see how it knows what your asking it to track without some kind of signal device on whatever you want to track. so maybe someone can explain that to me. thanks

has anyone used the bluetooth tracker item? i'm curious if i was to get one of those and i got to far away for the tracker if it will ring my phone to alert me i'm about to lose that item? and if so what tracker is free to use for this and the app it uses? thanks
