Hello all, sorry if these questions have been asked before.
I have a few questions about the Matrix LD.
I read that it has better 5.1 sound than the first DVD? But I can't test
mine since
I don't have an AC3 LD player anymore.
Couldn't find anyone selling it on eBay, is it rare?

It was released around the twilight of the laserdisc medium and had a
comparitively small pressing run for such a major title. And yes, the LD's
audio track is much fuller and more robust than the dvd's soundtrack and the
LD also doesn't have such a strong overall green tint to the image as the
dvd does. When it shows up on ebay, it usually goes for anywhere between
$60 - $120.

That seems to be the concensus from those who have owned it. It also
has less green tint than the DVD, as T.B. mentioned. The Wachoski
brothers left the color the same as what had been seen in theaters for
the LD, but they altered the picture for the DVD, adding extra green
tint and even taking away contrast in certain areas to darken the
movie, which also caused a slight loss of detail. Of course the new DVD
from the boxset is a bit cleaner than the older DVD, is anamorphically
enhanced and has a subjectively better DVD-quality (as opposed to
LD-quality) image so it's sort of a "pick and choose" scenario when
talking about which version is better.

I've been looking for months, can't find it at all. Keep your fingers
crossed and maybe one will pop up.

I saw one go maybe a month and a half ago for well over $100 on eBay.

Thanks for the info guys.

Actually I own it and was thinking of selling it actually. I will post eBay
link in this group when/if it goes for sale

That's awfully steep for me. I'd like the LD as sort of an
enthusiasts/collector's piece but I've got the trilogy box with the
newer DVD in it and that's what I'm sticking with for normal viewing.

Sorry that was the price when it got out :)
(just got out of bed)

Askprice is 150. Is that the normal price? Seems a little high to me.
