I have an Asus laptop and have been having this for about 2-3 years now. Everything was perfect; Games was running well until i downloaded a file that contained a virus. I did a full scan and also rebooted my laptop and deleted every single file i have. I re-installed my games and FPS is still dropping and I can't find the reason why. My cousin told me i could still have a malware infection, although my scan says i don't. I don't believe that it can be my fan or any other reasons because before i downloaded that file, it just messed up my FPS rate. I have Kaspersky. Here are my specs:
Asus k501ux Intel core i7-6500U 2.50GHz 2.59GHz
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 950m, Windows 10 64 bit 8 GB

Solution
First never download from sketchy sites,
Try these programs
http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/advanced_spyware_remover.html
https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/
https://www.malwarebytes.com/antirootkit/
https://www.adlice.com/download/roguekiller
https://www.malwarebytes.com/junkwareremovaltool/

Start up task manager and see what eats up most of your cpu, then rest for other tabs.
Start up file explorer and type %Temp% and delete all files (its temprary folder when you open notepad and close it and it stays soo you can retrieve it) the files you cannot delete don't. And post screen shot of files that were left.
