Hey All. Thanks for looking at this topic, and I hope the community can help me out!

I'm searching for a gift for my friend who is a newspaper reporter. She does a lot of phone interviews, and she wants an easier way to record her phone calls. She's tired of having to put the phone on speaker and record using an external device. She has a Blackberry Tour I believe.

I know RIM and Blackberry don't allow apps on Blackberry app world that record phone calls. I also know the native voice recorder app doesn't allow for recording of phone calls.

Does anyone know of a device that can be plugged into the 3.5mm jack on a blackberry which can record both sides of a phone call?

I'm fine with suggestions for slightly more elaborate setups, but I have a strong preference that the device work with the blackberry headset: a 3.5 mm stereo-plus-mic headset.

Thanks in advance for your help!

From what I know, it is pretty hard to do, but you can check out the links below to see if you can come up with something. I believe that there is something out there called BerryRecord, but I do not know much about it.

Have a look at these links:

Thanks Buwish. You're right, recording calls on a Blackberry is no easy feat. Here's what I've compiled after spending some time googling.

Any 'rumors' regarding Blackberry apps that can record calls to the memory card are simply rumors. Blackberry/RIM will not allow these apps, and there may even be a hardware limitation which doesn't allow for this to work.

If you have Google Voice on your blackberry, it can be used to record INCOMING calls to your google number. Simply press 1 to accept the call, and then press 4 to start the call recording. I haven't used google voice, but the recording is apparently sent to you in a .wma format.

I haven't been able to find a simple 3.5mm stereo-plus-mic recorder, but I suppose with a little splicing I should be able to use any voice recorder.
