Recording streaming audio

I have an asus mobo(m3a78-cm) with with VIA HD Audio, I am trying to record the audio playing on a website into audacity with just my soundcard. I've followed the instructions of using the sterio mix option and it still doesn't work. What should I do?

ok, so I solved this one myself, I had to have speakers hooked up and unplugged all my other audio equipment.
