Recovery mode failed?

My iphone experienced water damage and I tried to restore it through iTunes. It wouldn't track the iphone, so I had to recover it, but it failed? The liquid indicators of the phone is white which means it has no contact with water anymore.

I only see an apple logo when I hook it up to the computer though; and it's grey with swiggly lines.

It may indeed have dried out now, but that doesn't necessarily mean the water hasn't caused some irreversible damage internally.
