Recovery Program Won't Detect/Show Camera

I'm trying to recover some files I've deleted on my camera with a recovery program. None of the ones that seem legit have been able to detect my camera as a drive to search.

I'm using a Canon Vixia HF R600. I was hoping someone would be able to help my figure this out!

You normally remove the card from the camera and put it in to a card reader that's connected to your PC.

I'll go ahead an do that. In the meantime, I should mention that my computer ordinarily detects it and let's me transfer files from it with just the connector usb cable. Is this any different from using an SD card reader?

Using recovery software is another layer of software on top of Windows, so it's not like using Windows on it's own simply to transfer files from your camera.

That extra layer of software (the recovery software) imposes it's own limitations, such as inability to detect card while it's in your camera.
