red light on tv stays on no green light

I have been given a Sharp LCD TV Model LC-15B4M and the red light stays on. A green light came on briefly but nothing now is there something I can do to get it to show a picture and sound?

First guess would be bad power supply. I suspect that you will not find it worth the money to pay someone to repair it but if you can find the service manual online then give it try yourself. Sometimes bad capacitors cause this and they can be spotted because they tend to expand, leak or explode when bad.
Nothing to lose by trying.
