Redsn0w not recognizing IPSW!!!

Hi,

I have an iPhone 2G (first generation) and am using the latest version of redsn0w to jailbreak so I can install openiBoot. I have 3.1.3 installed. I can ope the program fine and stuff like that, but it always fails to recognize the IPSW file -- in fact, I've given it every file available down to 2.2 and it's FAILED, OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!! I have tried all other versions of redsn0w available on the Google Code website, but the've all FAILED! What can I do?

i think its not compatible with 2.2 ipsw. btw why downgrade from 3.1.3 to 2.2?
