Remote not working on my Pioneer VSX820

Nothing works on my Pioneer VSX820 from my Pioneer remote model AXD7583. I have tried a lot of things even resetting the main unit. I cannot turn the unit on/off, cannot change volume and sources like DVD, BD, etc. I was told that I need to unlock the unit with the set up code, but how do I do that? Cannot find anything online including procedure how to do that. Could someone please help, I'm desperate? Thanks for all the help.

If your are not using the original Pioneer remote then it would have to have the codes installed by the maker for your receiver. Sometimes the maker can add them but it is not likely.
If it is the original remote and assuming you have tried fresh batteries you can check if the remote itself is bad.

If the remote is transmitting then the problem is in the receiver. If you are still under warranty contact Pioneer.

Hi,

Thank you. This was very helpful to test the remote control. My problem was resolved by the correct code and procedure to unlock the AV receiver. All is good now.
