...My IQ had to go down quite a few points to understand CChick's and Nelson's random and idiotic rants...and for what reason would that have been? Feel better guys that you just proved to be the E-Tough guys of the article? You guys can go march with the RIAA and the like in their campaign for controlling the internet. Hey CChick, you remind me of an old joke I heard once, why God gave women yeast infections...so that they would know what it is like to live with an irritable wise and beautiful woman!

My friend, who got banned, and I bought XBOX within the same month slightly over a year. We did all the mod together including the lastest one. His game list is 3 to 5 times bigger then mine. I only play 2-4 games online so far, others offline, my game library is around 10 only. Simply said, I mainly play 1 or 2 game online, extensively.

For the people talking about hard drive size (in gigabytes i mean)...

The xbox 360 uses LAPTOP hard drives. Those don't have super cheap $60 TB capacities.

And yeah I know that for a fact, I put in a 120 gig one myself.

only a handful of games are worth the online experience, and that is being generous. being banned from live is not that big a deal, in fact this is my third banning. i will find a friend that doesnt get online and trade him my modded banned xbox with a bunch of my backed-up games for his virgin xbox and be back on within the week. he who laughs last, laughs best! see you online!

let me just say that by owning 4 games that have been pirated you have saved enough to buy a new system. arcade and put your own hard drive on them its a win win and all the people that were smart enough to mod... im with you and soon enough there will be a fix for this ban just wait if people can figure out how to mod an xbox hack an iphone and so on it will be done it is just a matter of time.

Instead of banning them how about give them the option to be banned or give them a "green" membership level and charge them triple the price and "lock" them into a 2-year subscription. Make 'em pay it or send them to the local collections agency. Either that or record which games are being played from a burned disc and make pirated users pay according to what they've copied.

Mmmmm, over a million users who are looking for an alternative to XBox Live. I'd say that's a market opportunity for an entrepreneurial type. Maybe it's not possible, but then neither should modding in the first place.

[citation][nom]madhumper69[/nom]Hate consoles rather play the games on a PC, They come out with new consoles every so often and its annoying to spend more money on all items needed, gotta buy the second controller and a game that doesn't come with your console how lame is that and they wounder why people are modding their xbox's maybe cause the customer is not fully getting what they should. On one hand they have to ban the users because everyone will fallow in the foot steps and play on xbox live with pirated games, Microsoft will loose more money banning all 1 million users.1 million users for 1 month is like 15million dollars down the toilet XBOX live should be free period i mean pretty soon we will have to pay for the time we play on xbox live pathetic rip off![/citation]

How don't you have to keep your PC updated with new hardware similarly????? These consoles have been out for around 5 years now... Your video card won't last that long...

You say we're idiots, but then you proceed to call a girl wise and beautiful woman. You're an idiot and deserve to get hit by a train, at least. Lucky you're online. Worthless waste of my time you are.

[citation][nom]Princeofdreams[/nom]People thinking M$ will regain the money lost need to think again. The 360 is sold at a loss, they make their money from the commission they charge to game publishers for it being placed on the 360 (Some $10 I believe)coupled with the money from add on equipment and from the xbox live gold accounts.Everyone is saying these people will run out and buy a new 360, and if they do so what? M$ make no profit from that, and do you seriously believe these people will all run out and suddenly purchase all the games they have been pirating? If you do then you know nothing about human natureGames developers/publishers continually whine saying they are losing billions each year to piracy, but everyone who pirates a game will NOT buy an original. These people who download 100's of games won't suddenly find an extra $10,000 dollars in their bank account to replace them with. While I have no doubt that piracy affects the game industry, just as it affects the software/movie/music industry, they will never recoup the stupid amounts they mentionMaybe they should concentrate on delivering superior products that people want to purchase instead of the shite they drum out and charge extortionate amounts for.And before you flame, no I don't pirate games on the xbox 360, I bought mine for my kids and never use it, I just wait until a game hits the bargain bucket and then buy it for them, no need to pirate.[/citation]

You're wrong. One Arcade Console sold + one llowest tier live subscription = profit for MS. Look it up.

[citation][nom]Exodite[/nom]I don't own a 360 myself but an acquaintance of mine brought up an excellent point - perhaps Microsoft should consider producing a 360 with a less noisy fan, cheaper HDD options (considering a new, 500Gbyte single-platter, 7200RPM disk costs ~$60) and a DVD that doesn't eat discs.Banning pirates is all well and good but there are legitimate reasons for modding your console as well.[/citation]

I just bought a new one for my son over the weekend (manufactured 8/29/09) and it is A LOT quieter than they once were. He had a 20GB hard drive on his old one (we sold his old version without the HD for $100 and bought a new arcade at Walmart for $199 + got a free $100 gift card). He wanted a bigger HD to install the games and play, because his old XBox was so freakin' loud, but with the 20GB hard drive, you don't get much space to actually install the games. Turns out the new XBox is much, much quieter than the older versions, and he doesn't care about a new HD anymore.

So at least they've improved in that area. /shrug

[citation][nom]steiner666[/nom]THIS JUST IN😛pl think paying $60 a game is bullshit!Get with the fucking economy M$ idiots![/citation]

Here is idiot number 6...

Out of all that cost Microsoft or for morons M$ gets about 12 bucks out of it, if that. The rest go to packaging (about 10 to 15 percent) the retail stores take their 5 or 10 dollar cut then another cut for all the other crap in between which leaves less than half for the developer.

So really blame the fact that people want actually good looking cames and not Microsoft and the fact that development for those games costs more because of specialized coding hardware etc.

Or you can be dumb and blame Microsoft because they put out one of the most popular consoles with an arguably better game line up and Online system (PS Home sucks) so yeah... are entitled to your own opinion... no matter how stupid it is.

I know this is a repost but there is not an edit button so...

What mods are they banning? Is the hacked hard drives in jeopardy of being banned? Or just consoles hacked to play pirated games?

Soon enough there will be. 120 gig is a little small. I picked up a 500gig laptop drive for $35 two weeks ago, using it on my laptop right now.

[citation][nom]rooket[/nom]datawrecker, cchick probalby owns 3 modified ricers. you have a real nice car right there. I'd love to have a 67 mustang california or gt500 body car. my dad says the 69 was the best one ever made from long ago, i guess structurally it was much stronger than the previous ones and can support more horsepower. but ya i won't mention the cars i have because someone always nitpicks at my stuff and it is totally annoying. i have a couple nice cars is all i can say. but ya dishing out 30k on a stack of ps3 games when u could use it to buy something much more tangible and quite possibly can get you outside under real sunlight and fresh air is kinda rediculous if u ask me.but ya i spend considerable more time modding my new car rather than squandering my time on xbox live...what a joke[/citation]

Gaming is one thing, people talk and talk about how awesome they are but really have nothing to show for it. I love gaming, I also love fixing up old cars. I have also made a few changes to my 09 Charger r/t, she is a nice grocery getter, but the mustang does all the talking. I like the sound of the charger better as well, much deeper growl than the stang. The last car I fixed up was a team effort, I rebuilt a Boss 429 engine and placed it on a 32 Ford Bucket Roadster. She never got a change to really run, twisted the frame while revving her up. Frame had a 2" deviation from the torque. We knew it would happen, the guy cleaning up the frame and body did not want to strengthen the frame. Oh well, i got paid.

Look, everyone is all stuck up on the mortality of the issue. Piracy is morally wrong. Gotcha, good job. Now let's instead look at reality. People like Cchick who Quote: "I got over 70 PS3 games, and over 200 PS2 games, and probably 300+ PS games. Plus all other Saturn, DC, TurboGraphic/PC-Engine/PCFX. etc." represent some .00001% of the global population. When you consider that to the majority of people globally a single X-box game is a month's pay, that's where you start to get problems. They can *just* about afford to scrape up the cash for the system, but can't pay for the games. When this happens, there is a 100% chance that some clever fellow out in China, India, Russia etc. will find a way to pirate. This is what you call 'human nature'. Soon, the technique will spread until it is available to the wealthy nations. There is another 100% chance that a portion of that population will adopt it as they have the opportunity to pay nothing for something. This is the unavoidable conclusion of this scenario. To change the outcome, you have to fiddle the variables. For e.g., as some people have said here, make games so cheap it's actually more difficult to pirate them. But to get yourself worked up over an inevitability is counterproductive at best.
