....and all I ever see when someone complains about Google Streetview being an invasion of privacy is derision yet everyone is prepared to cry foul when institutions like the RIAA try to erode our privacy. Guard your privacy with every breath for you will never get it back once taken from you.

[citation][nom]gti88[/nom]Mmm... May be it's time to found US Pirate Party?[/citation]

Maybe not, but it sure seems like the time for the Privacy party to from and take root...

I'm British, and god knows our country is screwed at the moment, but I look to what is happening in the USA and it seems democracy is being throw out of the window, its becoming more and more like a dictatorship there, which ever government you have in power, its like all governments are controlled from behind the scenes, puppet masters pulling the strings and politicians dancing to the tune played, the UK is going the same way, its so hard to distinguish any political party from the other.

Whether it is big brother, the illuminati, or whatever force dictating things, we as the people need to say enough is enough, the government is there to support the people, it is elected by the people to represent the people, we need to take the influence of the monied few out of politics otherwise the dark reality of 1984 really will come to pass

Awesome, let's make everyone an instant criminal with no private life.

Watch other hackers misuse the government spyware withing 12 hours of release and have the biggest internet-"disaster" since the invention of communications. They can finally ddos the backbones across the planet.

All hell would break loose when nothing dependent on digital works for weeks or months.

I wouldn't be too worried, everything the govt. gets their hands on goes broke. They might try, but it will get caught up in so much legal drama they will waste so much money and go broke just like social security, medicare, medicaid, the postal service, etc...

You know, I make my own music as a side project/hobby and I give away my own CDs for free. I just love to make music and to see other people hopefully enjoy it. I would MUCH rather someone downloaded my music for free instead of not listening to it because they have to pay for it. Music is about reaching out to people and trying to get your message across, not money. Sorry 'lil Wayne, I know you don't have much else going for you, but you should always have a backup plan for a career. Drug dealer does not count. =)

I completely agree regarding the privacy issue, but i see a hell of alot of contradictions,

you do realize people are actively stealing stuff, and some people have a right to prevent it and "have a wage" as we ALL do!.

I dont agree with draconian measures, but, we need to not support pirates and people who steal!

the ONLY people who deserve information free are the ill, elderly and those in education... obviusly information for education itself should be free to all (and subsidised)...

there is not way the RIAA will get away with deploying malware on innocent PC's, but if connected to a client that is actively stealing data i feel they could actually get permission, so be cautious about supporting thieves or it will get worse.

I agree that the FBI needs to do more to protect people's copyrighted material.
But they can't invade privacy to do so, let them set up their bit torrent client and see who's sharing.

How much does it cost to put all 6 billion humans in jail? Also, who will run the prisons?
Well nuns i would think everyone else would have download something they deem illegal 😛
Tey way i see it if the enforce it people might bycot & stop buying there stuff so they will all go broke instead just fine by me.

And all you MS trolls/fanboys give me a thumbs down when ever I mention that Windows was co-developed with the FEDS and has built in back doors.

[citation][nom]flea420[/nom]It's not Illegal to download something you already own. It's a LEGAL backup!SO! It's legal for the RIAA to delete something from my harddrive that I have the legal right to have? They would need to come to my house and Phsyically prove I do not own that music in order to take legal action against me.[/citation]
In canada it is legal to have a backup in the US it is Illegal it violates the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 that prohibits the circumvention of encryption technology. DVDs are encrypted with what is known as the Content Scramble System, and DVD players must secure a license to play discs.

The Riaa has prosecuted people who don't have a computer or an internet connection.
So what would stop them from doing this if they spend enough money lobbying sooner or later the government will put it in, heck right now they can arrest people for stuff they have not done next thing you know they will get you on thinking about downloading that song or movie without actually doing it.

I live in Canada they don't arrest someone unless they actually break the law in US they can arrest you on suspicion that you might do something without any proof and call it national security.

What is really funny i know that there is a lot of police officers, goverment officals and even judges and their familiy members that pirate movies and songs even people that the Riaa hire to do anti-piraracy campaigns where downloading illegal music LOL.

So where are they going to find 6 billion jail cells? can you imagine the cost governments of the world would go bankrupt lol.

So...let me see if I have this straight.

RIAA/MPAA watches over the rights to music/movies and doesn't want to invest/have their members invest in a technology that will prevent/deter people copying it because they are too busy paying their execs multi-million dollar compensation packages.

So....

They want me and you to pay more taxes to have the government hire people who will write code to go in back doors of computer software and delete it for them.

So...

They want me to pay for someone else to do their work?

Then, go out and buy their product?

Pay twice? Hm. No. I think not.

I think the time has come for major labels/representative groups to go by the wayside, and the talent form corporations (e.g.- Madonna, Elton John, Sting, The Rolling Stones should put $500M together and start a label) that pays musical artists more of the sales take.

Then if they streamline the process and start their own reproduction/distribution LLCs, your price of product goes down from $15 to about $6 per CD.

Cut out the execs. Cut out all the middle men. Pay the artists more. Save the consumer more.

That's what's needed. Not hiking my taxes another $1000 a year cause the RIAA doesn't want to have to pay to protect their own stuff.

I buy a gun to protect my property. Let them protect their own stuff.

Lazy cheap skates.

Lol i aplaud there efforts while hysterically climaxing, falling off my chair and scratching my belly. Only the yanks.
