Good afternoon all,

I've got a Samsung Series 3 notebook laptop that had no power on charging. My friend said to me that they had got to the point where wiggling the power connection in the DC jack was the only way it as charging.
So I found the right part and changed it, however I'm still getting nothing no charge or power. Has anyone come across this before or could anyone help with a suggestion/fix?

Kind Regards,

Ray

"Power on charging"? Or power OR charging? Your problem statement is a little vague. The laptop will not charge the battery or even indicate it is connected to power, is that it? So it should be dead by now.?

Anyway try connecting the power cable with no battery in the computer. (assuming series 3 has a removable battery)

My apologies for sounding vague, bit sleep deprived at the minute :)

When the charger is connected nothing happens, no charge indicator light comes on, no power goes to the board. The laptop is completely dead now but before even when the laptop booted windows didn't indicate any charging at all.

I've tried holding the power button for a minute and then pressing power, both with and without a battery in.

I'm assuming something else has gone but I'm not to sure where to start looking.

Have you tried connecting to power with no battery in the PC? If the battery is dead or failing that can cause this kind of problem. Since it sounds like you replaced the power jack on the laptop this would be the next thing to try before assuming it's a bad mainboard. (or maybe the charger itself is bad? Actually that sounds like a real try there.) But I'm not sure what part you changed, the power brick or the jack on the computer?

before and after i changed the dc jack on the laptop I tried using my universal charger instead of the original and tried it with and without the laptop. When there was a charge left in the battery plugging the laptop to the mains did nothing. This is another reason I thought the dc jack might have been damaged.

Tried that too I'm afraid, before and after i changed the jack. both times got the same results... nothing lol
it has been a pain.

speaking to someone recently and they've had the same issue with a hp laptop and even though they have their own electronics company they've not been able to identify the issue on theirs.

I thought the same to be honest, was just curious if anyone had hit on this before. I've thought of a repair center however most would only end up paying for it to be sent to manufacturer for diagnosis. Probably cheaper to get a new laptop with the price of em these days.

Thanks anyway, much appreciated
