sanyo tv remote not working correctly with cox

changed remote batteries as notice of batteries needed replacing. now remote will not do most functions. Using voice control button will change channels but pushing buttons for channel number does not.

I have cox it showed my batteries were low so I changed them. Now, my remote has stopped working. It does turn tv on and off and change volume. It will allow me to change stations using voice control however the contour button does not work so not able to go to netflix.

Was the battery contacts corroded? Some of that corrosion may had migrated to the buttons. Liquid damage? High humidity? Fess up time.
