Hey guys, I'm new to lap tops but I've built a few desktops. I have a satellite c55-a5285, I'm trying to find out what socket type it is so that I can upgrade it as it only has an I3 in in currently. CNET says that it is a Mobile Intel HM76 Express, but I can't find any sockets that size on places like newegg. The filter options for a laptop socket type on Newegg are 478, G2, 479, M and P
Thanks for the help!

So I finally found the answer I was looking for. If you'r looking for a cpu with the sockey type FCPGA988, it will be under the G2 name..
Thanks everyone

My plan is to upgrade it, my understanding is I would need to know what socket the motherboard is in order to find a more powerfull chip. I was given options with newegg that don't relate to anything I find about this computer.

So I will need to buy from a different website other than Newegg? There only options are 478, G2, 479, M and P. Or does that break down into something else? Where should I look for an upgraded processor?
Thanks

you need to know what cpus your bios supports

your cpu has 35w tdp so your heatsink is compatible with a cpu with that tdp
