Though the ability to create synthetic sperm and eggs in the laboratory is still at least give years away,

You might want to fix that.

Yes, lets let those that can't have a baby naturally just make one. Cause then those infertile genes will be passed on and the next generation won't be able to have kids either. Does anyone else see this snowball effect?

I believe that this is the only thing that all the lobbyist of the stem cell research people were protesting, the scientist said that stem cells are going to be used to cure diseases and whatnot. I guess this can be very usefull for infertile couples. If history has thought has anything is that everything that humans create is flawed, just becasue it is created by humans, it has side effects.

They tell us that killing all these children is definitely worth the many cures it will provide, the lives of (important) people it will save.

Now children are being killed in order to make an advance of our understanding so that someday children could be created.

How is this not selfish? People who are so unwilling to adopt that they support the destruction of (thousands?) of children so that they can support the destruction of dozens of their own children so they can have that one perfect child.

So if these are being created from a stem cell, could you theoretically make an egg and sperm from from a male's stem cells and and then fertilize?
I know jack squat about biology, but since the male has both chromosomes, could a XX chromosome stem cell be synthesized, you know, decades down the road?
Just an uneducated pondering, thumbs down if you wish.
Cheers :)

Go science. Those who cannot appreciate what science is doing should just step aside and let science roll on. Those opposed to stem-cell research are merely trying to push their morals down our throats...no thanks.

"Everything that humans create is flawed?" That is bullshit. Art and music are human creations and they are not flawed. Vaccines, medicine, space travel, communications, electronics, etc. are all human creations and have made the world a much better place.

You talk like the only thing not flawed is God. But, if God made us humans who are flawed then isn't God also flawed?

What children are they killing, exactly?

XX would be a female.

[citation][nom]ssalim[/nom]Oh no, if you try to play god, they will be born a retard or serial killer. Stop this R&D.[/citation]

Go home. You know nothing of what you say. Genes do not solely dictate whether one is a "serial killer"...most has to do with environmental factors.

Genes have everything to do with "retards." By being able to control such in the lab then they will be able to prevent point mutations that cause genetic anomalies. This type of research will prevent what you are saying, not create such.
