I have a galaxy on5 and I have a 14 gb sd card. when I first inserted it it asked me about how to format it and I thought I was better to format as internal, so I did. now I don't have much space on the phone itself, 8 gb or so, so I thought it would help there. but even though I added it, it still shows I have 8 gb internal storage and 14 gb external storage. when I click to format the card it talks about formatting as external, so I know its formatted right.
I don't have much internal space left. some things I can choose to move to sd card but not everything and sucks that I can't figure this out. I thought it would all go together, not 8 here andn14 there.

even my music, I have it in a folder on my card but it still shows up as internal storage also and takes up space there.
I'm just confused. I'm new to this whole format as internal crap and I don't known what to do. I thought the phone would add everything together and say I have 22 gb of internal space, add card with phone together, instead of 8 here, 14 there and some things can't be moved but some can. can someone help me or correct me sorry if its confusing, I'm confused myself.

I am pretty sure that particular device doesn't allow for this option, but you can try the following to see for sure.

First, you need to be using a phone that is running at least Android "Marshmallow" (or newer) or be able to upgrade to it. Second, you will need the instructions I am including below. And third, you need a phone that has not been restricted by the manufacturer from making this change. Which does happen.

NOTE: If any of the steps are missing on your phone, or they don't work for you, then you have a phone that either has an older Android version or has been restricted by the manufacturer.

How to turn the "External" SD card into "Internal" storage on "Marshmallow" a.k.a. 6.0.

NOTE: Please be sure you start with a blank SD card. It needs to be blank because when the card is converted to "Internal" storage, it will be formatted (wiped) and encoded (making the cards data only readable by that device).

1. Go to device “Settings”, then select “Storage”.
2. Select your "SD Card", then tap the “three-dot menu“ (top-right), now select “Settings” from in there.
3. Now select “Format as internal”, and then “Erase & Format”.
4. Your SD Card will now be formatted as internal storage.
5. Reboot your phone.

NOTE: If you don't reboot the phone, many things may not work correctly, so make sure you do.

How to turn the "External" SD card into "Internal" storage on "Nougat" a.k.a. 7.0.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure you start with a blank SD card. When the card is converted to "Internal" storage, it will be formatted (wiped) and encoded (making the cards data only readable by that device), so anything on it prior would be gone.

1. Go to "Settings", and then select "Storage & USB".
2. At the bottom of the list you should see the SD card's details, including the option to format it and make it "Internal" storage.
3. Once this is done, reboot the device and you can start running things from the card.

If you don't reboot the phone, some things may not work correctly, so make sure you do the reboot.

well it gave me the prion when I inserted the card. last night I just formatted It to removable storage or whatever but it does give me the option to. but now even though its dormatted as external , my audio files are on the card butnstill shows it's on the internal storage and taking up almost 1gb of space. I'm confused. I have another card I want to use instead that's larger, I will try what I said on that card.
