Seagate hard drive need help

How come my seagate 2tb hard drive is only working with a old DVD player yet both tv's have a usb port one tv won't find it all and the other only finds folders .
It worked fine at my brothers place on a xbox1 ....won't work on either PlayStation I have....
Any suggestions please and thank you

Simple. I think I answered 4 other posts like this recently.

USB ports on home AV devices are not standard, and they definitely don't do everything a PC can. Some can only deal with a specific HD format. Some can only deal with Flash, not HD. Even if it recognizes your HD, it may not play all files due to codec limitation. Some are only for diagnostic, firmware update, not for playing media. Manuals sometimes specify what it can do, and some very cryptic, so trial&error.
