Securing Dell Inspiron using bios passwords

Hi,
I have been searching the web for a simple explanation what type of bios security I can use for my Dell Inspiron N5110.
Currently I am using the HDD password, but I want to understand better how it works. Is it with TPM or some other way?

Yes so I did, but what is the difference between HDD password and System password? I haven't found it anywhare in the manual.
