My parents have decided that it's about time I get a phone, and I've set my heart on trying to put ubuntu touch OS on the phone I decide to get. I'm rather new to the smartphone ecosystem, though, and request your assistance. The carrier that my family uses currently is US Cellular, and I've seen very mixed information online about what phones work with them.

Basically, given this set of information:
1. Carrier: US Cellular
2. OS: ubuntu touch

I want to find the set of phones that are compatible. If there is a fundamental incompatibility between the OS or the carrier, I would like to find instead just a list of smartphones that work with ubuntu touch as the OS. If you have any suggestions for which phones might work best, feel free to include that in your answer.

There should be no carrier issues; the OS you run doesn't affect compatibility, but the phone you are using will. Ubuntu Touch is only supported on a few devices.

You can find the device compatibility page here: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-for-devices/devices/

And the general installation information here: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-for-devices/installing-ubuntu-for-devices/

There may be unofficial variants out there that support more devices, as is the case with Android, but I'm not familiar with Ubuntu Touch so you'll probably want to do some research yourself.
