Hello everyone!

I decided to sell my Lenovo laptop to get some money for my gaming computer that I'm planing to build.

It's a lenovo Z560 ideapad, It's 2,5 years old. I bought it brand new.

Specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU M 350 @ 2.27GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130318-1533)

System Manufacturer: LENOVO
System Model: 0914
BIOS: InsydeH2O Version 29CN27WW(V2.04)

Genuine Windows 7

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 310M
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 310M

2 Hard Disk Drives:
Local Disk (C: ) 254GB
Lenovo (D: ) 28,9GB

everything it came with is working and will be given to the buyer with the laptop.

(I hope that it's enough)

So my question is, for how much could I sell this laptop for? And also what the price could be if I would sell it next year?

Solution
Here's how you calculate system depreciation:

Take what you paid for it, subtract salvage value (if there is any), and then when you go to sell it, multiply by year of sale.

Say your laptop is worth \$800 with a salvage value of \$150 and you've had it two years, and in the second year you sell it in August.

Year 1:

\$800 - \$150 /2 = \$325

\$800 - \$325 = \$475

Year 2:

Selling in August: \$325 * (8/12) = \$216

\$475 - \$216 = \$259

You can expect to sell your laptop for a minimum of \$259.

Should sell for about \$300, maybe a bit less.
