how do i get internet from the computer on to my tablet?

the easy way is pick up a old b/g wifi router and plug your modem into it.

Tablets only connect wirelessly. Therefore, if you have a wired network at home, then you need to purchase a router with wireless capabilities that way devices do not have to be physically connected to the router in order to connect to the internet.

You should setup the wireless router with a password. Otherwise anyone in range of your wireless network will be able to freely connect to your router which also means they can potentially access your PC as well.
