shared hdmi port

My television has four HDMI ports, two of which are in use by my Uverse box and my DVD/surround sound. Bought a Firestick - when I tried to install it in either of the unused ports, it was not recognized. I unplugged the DVD player and plugged in the Firestick - worked fine.
I think my two unused HDMI ports are corroded (I live right near the ocean). Other than swapping the DVD player and the Firestick out (which means no surround sound for the Firestick), is there any way to have them both work? Would an HDMI splitter work?

Yeah, a splitter would do the job perfectly. I had to use one on my last TV.

This way you can add even more HDMI ports to your set, and it wont break the bank either!

You can't use a splitter.
You need an HDMI input selector.
