Hi,

I accidentally fastened down a SATA HDD Caddy Case connecting screw onto metal motherboard contacts whilst the laptop was turned on. I saw a orange flash then the laptop powered off and has not been powered on since. I have removed the RAM, both HDD's (it's dual bay) and battery and left the power button on through the wall charger to discharge. No effect. I'm guessing the mobo is shorted. It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop so quite dated now. I'm guessing the laptop is shorted...

Solution
Hi, if you connect just the adapter and push the power button, nothing happens, no light on the power button, no display, the motherboard have a defective component, like you said the motherboard is shorted.
