Solved! Should I replace a 3-4 year motherboard for a gaming laptop (GL753VD; 7700hq, 1050-4GB)?

I recently got a free laptop from a friend. It was an ASUS ROG Strix GL753VD with an I7-7700HQ and a GTX 1050 (4gb version).

He said the motherboard is fried and would need to be fully replaced, but I am not sure if it would be worth it to replace.

Would something like this that is four years old be fine to replace and make it into my own laptop?

From a quick eBay search, those motherboards are about $600 so not worth it at all for that much considering you can get a new Acer Nitro 5 for a bit over $700 now https://www.amazon.com/Acer-i5-1030...cphy=9001834&hvtargid=pla-1038637480765&psc=1

What you can do is put the thing up on eBay as it for parts, decent chance it will sell for maybe 200 if someone needs a screen or a shell, assuming those are all good.

the problem is that I’m not sure if most the parts even work still or not
