Skype locks up games when in a call

I have been having this problem where my I'm playing games while on a skype call with my buddy and whatever game I'm playing, doesn't matter what it is, just shoots my games down to 5-10 fps... this happens with all games within 45 minutes and ONLY happens during a skype call. Any ideas what it could be?

That's not it... it only started happening recently and I for the life of me cannot find an answer. Actually spent a full 3 hours looking from 50 pages of google one day.
